Gadolinium Gallium Garnet (GGG)


Gadolinium Gallium Garnet (GGG) single crystal is a material with good optical, mechanical and thermal properties which makes it promising for use in fabrication of various optical components as well as substrate material for magneto – optical films and high-temperature superconductors. It can be used for infrared optical insulator (1.3 and 1.5 um), which is made of YIG or BIG film on the Gadolinium Gallium Garnet (GGG) substrate plus birefringence parts. Gallium Gadolinium Garnet single crystal is an important substrate for microwave isolators and can be used as a HTS material, for laser technology, telecommunications, electronic.

GGG crystals are grown by Czochralski technique. The standard products from GGG crystals are wafers and substrates with sizes from 10 x 10 mm to diameter 76.2 mm, thickness 0.5 mm and 1.0 mm, one side or both sides polished 20/10 S/D, [111] or [100] cut.
