ELM532 - green DPSS laser

ELM532 is a compact designed diode pumped q-switched laser with 532 nm wave length.

The further developed ELM532 series is technologically based on the proven ELM1064 platform, but has been specifically extended for applications in the visible wavelength range. Emitting at 532 nm, the laser combines the performance of the 1064 nm fundamental wavelength with the application-specific advantages of frequency-doubled green radiation.

Frequency doubling is realized using nonlinear crystals, enabling high efficies while maintaining high stability and excellent beam quality. Thanks to its optimized opto-mechanical design, users also benefit from a compact form factor, high reliability, and stable performance.

Our ELM532 modules are successfully used in LIDAR (Light Detection And Ranging) as well as LIBS (Laser Induced Breakdown Spectroscopy) applications. Further details can be found in the corresponding data sheets.

Advantages of 532 nm:

  • Higher absorption in many materials
Metals, plastics, ceramics, and especially organic materials often absorb green light more efficiently than infrared, enabling improved material interaction—for example in spectroscopy or fine material processing.

  • Better detectability
Silicon-based detectors (e.g., photodiodes, CCD/CMOS sensors) exhibit significantly higher sensitivity at 532 nm than at 1064 nm—an important advantage for measurement and sensing systems.

  • Higher scattering for optical measurement methods
The shorter wavelength improves backscatter signals, leading to more precise results, particularly in LIDAR and atmospheric measurement applications.

  • Visible beam
The green laser beam is visible to the human eye, simplifying alignment, adjustment, and system integration.
